This video shows the true vocal folds appearance in a patient with Reinke's oedema. There is a slow cumulation of gel-like substance in the subepithelial space which resulted in coarse mucosal waves and warbly hoarse voice. There is concomitant presence of right vocal fold subepithelial cyst and evidence of reflux laryngitis. The predisposing factors in this case were chronic heavy smoking and abuse/overuse of voice. Comprehensive management for this patient includes speech therapy, treatment of reflux, and microphonosurgery.
