This video shows complete closure of the velopharyngeal opening (circumferential pattern) and mild base of tongue prolapse upon Muller's manouevre. This procedure is commonly performed in ENT clinic/suite to find out possible site/s of airway lumen collapse during forced negative airway pressure induced by instructing the patient to breathe in deeply with his nose and mouth tightly closed. Flexible endoscope passed through the nasal passage allows the view of affected area/s to be seen and pathological obstruction and its collapse pattern documented. Topical nasal decongestion and local anaesthetic spray are usually given prior to this procedure. Sleep nasal endoscopy is an alternative but sedation is necessary for sleep induction.
