sub condylar fracture is one of the commonest site in lower jaw fractures.open reduction and bone plating of condylar fracture is done to get normal occlusion, to avoid deviation on mouth opening, to achieve back same lateral excursive movement of lower jaw that was there before accident and to avoid wiring of teeth and inter maxillary fixation(IMF)/maxillomandibular fixation(MMF). retromandibular(trans parotid) approach to condyle gives sufficient exposure of condyle to do bone plating. to avoid injury to facial nerve try to keep dissection plane beneath retromandibular vein.this is the preferred approach to condyle at mittal dental clinic , Jaipur, India.
