Rigid endoscopy is a great tool for removal of esophageal or gastric foreign bodies. Most FBs are promply identified or grasped or can be passivley moved into the viewing field by changing the animals position. Advantages over flexible endoscopes are that pulling, pushing and rotational forced can be applied in order to retrieve the FB.
