Board-certified in both thoracic and general surgery,
Richard Lazzaro, M.D., received a Bachelor of Science
degree from the Union College and a medical degree from Albany
Medical College.
Dr. Richard Stephen Lazzaro MD is male, has 21 years of
experience and practices in Surgery, Thoracic Surgery,
and Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery.
He was chief resident of general surgery at North Shore University
Hospital and completed a residency in cardiothoracic surgery and a
fellowship in general thoracic surgery at SUNY/Downstate Medical
Center, as well as a fellowship in minimally invasive thoracic
surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
At NYM, Dr. Lazzaro serves as chief of thoracic surgery, performing
advanced and minimally invasive thoracic procedures that are vital
to the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung
cancer, esophageal disorders, gastro esophageal reflux disease and
other
conditions involving the thoracic area.
Dr. Lazzaro comes to NYM from Maimonides Medical Center, where
he was director of general thoracic surgery. He is assistant clinical
professor of surgery at SUNY/Downstate Medical Center.
